These brake discs replace many of the LS (left) / RS (right) brake discs and can be installed on both sides. The steel used for the new EBC brake discs is a special stainless steel compound with a higher friction effect than that of conventional heat-treated stainless steel brake discs. With the 10% improvement in the friction effect, the braking force is further increased. The weight of the new series “X” and “XC” is reduced by a further 5-10% due to the 6-riveting system with a light-weight inner ring, which in turn means an improvement over conventional brake discs. The new brake discs are equipped with the unique and patented SD system from EBC, whose square rivets in the recesses of the brake disc under the heat generated during braking allow an unrestricted expansion of the outer and inner ring without affecting the rivet connection. Such an impairment occurs when the brake disk is heated by strong braking and the outer ring contacts the (usually round) rivets that separate the outer ring from the inner ring. With the new EBC system, this problem is avoided, which causes 100% of the brake disc defects caused by warping of the disc and vibrations. What is the SD system? This is the new four-cornered riveting system from EBC. This system completely prevents distortion of the brake disc, increases the life of the brake disc, and improves the braking performance. When installing your new Rezo brake discs – you will need to offset the rotor buttons so they are not mirrored left to right and if possible, we recommend fitting new disc bolts which should be tightened to OEM factory torque specifications. Breaking your new discs in – will take some time; you should especially bare this in mind the first time you ride your bike after fitting. Rezo discs usually take 100 miles to break in and you will notice them getting better the more you use them. Breaking them in should be done with gradual breaking at various speeds over time. New Brake Pads – must be fitted when installing your new Rezo discs, this is to allow the new braking surface to bed in correctly giving you a much smoother feel under braking, we recommend fitting a sintered brake pad for the front to get the most from your new discs. Failure to replace your old pads can result in improper bedding in and may lead to heat spots and warping of the disc. We recommend fitting sintered brake pads for the front to give the best braking experience. Before fitting new pads – make sure the brake caliper pistons and any slider pins are free and working correctly, if they are stiff or seized they will need to be cleaned or replaced before you continue. A caliper that is seized or not working correctly can result in the pads not retracting from the disc, causing an excess of heat to build which cannot be dispersed in the necessary time, leading to disc warping. High strength stainless steel rotor buttons help keep the rotor in perfect contact with the brake pads, also fitted with pre-loaded compression washers to reduce chatter and vibration, which is normally found on cheaper low quality discs. Made from 7075-T6 aircraft grade aluminium for strength and weight saving. They’re also anodized in black to give a simple clean look offering good corrosion resistance to the elements. All Rezo brake discs are made to OEM specifications with the same diameter, offset and fitting points making them a direct replacement for your old units. When installing your new Rezo brake discs – you will need to offset the rotor buttons so they are not mirrored left to right and if possible, we recommend fitting new disc bolts which should be tightened to OEM factory torque specifications. Breaking your new discs in – will take some time; you should especially bare this in mind the first time you ride your bike after fitting. Rezo discs usually take 100 miles to break in and you will notice them getting better the more you use them. Breaking them in should be done with gradual breaking at various speeds over time. New Brake Pads – must be fitted when installing your new Rezo discs, this is to allow the new braking surface to bed in correctly giving you a much smoother feel under braking, we recommend fitting a sintered brake pad for the front to get the most from your new discs. Failure to replace your old pads can result in improper bedding in and may lead to heat spots and warping of the disc. We recommend fitting sintered brake pads for the front to give the best braking experience. Before fitting new pads – make sure the brake caliper pistons and any slider pins are free and working correctly, if they are stiff or seized they will need to be cleaned or replaced before you continue.
